The Democrats Go Fishing

The Democrats are nothing if not persistent, dogged, dedicated,
and fixated in their mission to drive a fairly and squarely elected
president, elected by the people over their chosen heir apparent
to succeed their President Hope and Change, out of office and
therefore undo that very election. Their latest gambit has been to
bring back a convicted liar and disbarred attorney to once again
testify before Congress in their endeavor to beef up their narrative
as to why President Trump is not fit to be our president and should
be removed from office.

Michael Cohen, former counsel and former friend of President Trump,
was recently sentenced to three years in prison for lying to Congress
the first time he was subpoenaed to testify regarding the now-utterly
disproven charges of collusion between Trump and the Russian
government. Yet he was brought back by Congressional Democrats
to throw some more mud at the President; he stated that he was sorry
to have worked for Trump and that he is "a racist, a con man, and
a cheat". Now. let's examine Cohen's words, bringing the light of
scrutiny to bear. Cohen, knowing well what might happen to him
in prison, as "snitches" are considered to be low on the social totem
poll of prison inmates, would jump at any offer to either waive or
at least shorten his sentence. So the Democrats had this in mind,
to be sure, when they sought to bring Cohen back to testify again.
This time they prepared the sheet music of their favorite song for
their jailbird to sing, and gave him their request as if they were
patrons in a nightclub and Cohen the club's singer. So far the Dems
have tried to pin anything they could find or fabricate in order to
impeach and remove President Trump from the presidency, and
with each setback they have become more fixated, more maniacal,
and more desperate in their rotten quest. But they are going to eat
still more crow, followed by a slice of humble pie for dessert after
Cohen admitting that he had no evidence of the alleged collusion.
But he put his statement this way: "Questions have been raised
about whether I have direct evidence that Mr. Trump or his
campaign colluded with Russia ... I do not. I want to be clear.
But I have my suspicions." So, Cohen added a barb to his admission
of not having evidence of collusion. Something that certainly pleased
his Democrat handlers, I'm sure. As did the many exhibits that Cohen
brought to the hearing, trying somehow, some way, to pin something
illegal or at least reputation-damning on President Trump, including
checks for payment to prostitutes to urinate on a bed in a swanky
Russian hotel, one that supposedly President Obama and his wife
slept in when they visited that country some years earlier. By the by,
this little episode with the hookers and the "golden tribute" never
happened. But the Democrats are digging in their heels, hoping
that something will break their way. Like, perhaps, some factual
evidence that will hold up under legal scrutiny.

So this is the scenario which we are currently faced with.
Ever since Donald J. Trump was elected, never mind inaugurated,
to be our president both the Democrats and the lefties have been
beside themselves with rage over these two events taking place,
and have been feverishly trying to rid our duly elected president
from power, basically telling the electorate "No, you cannot have
Donald Trump as your newly elected president, because we loathe
and despise him. You are free to vote for whomever you please,
but if we don't like who you choose then we will not let him
serve his term. You plebes can vote, but we shall decide!".
But all of the false testimony, all the at best questionable exhibits
trying to be given the mantle of evidence, all of the fishing trips
(like this one) for such evidence to initiate impeachment proceed-
ings, and all of the temper tantrums by politicians, activists, and
other Trump-haters will not alter the fact of the results of the
2016 Presidential election, nor will any of it drive our freely
elected occupant of the White House and his administration
from Washington. Our constitutional republic remains, and shall
remain standing, and We the People shall see to it that it shall
always be thus. Anyone who has a problem with this are welcome
to move to another country where things are done more to their
totalitarian tastes.

Pat Caddell, R.I.P.

A rare and dying breed in politics has become even more rare
with the passing of one of its members; Democrat pollster
Pat Caddell, an indispensable source of help to five Democrat
presidential candidates (most famously President Jimmy Carter);
political firm consultant with is own firm, Caddell, Doak, and
Shrum; and a political analyst who told it like it was, regardless
of how uncomfortable it made some of his clientele as well as
some others in the Democrat Party, died on February 16 from
a stroke, aged 68.

Southern born and bred, Harvard educated, and a keen observer
of political players and trends, Caddell was praised while in his
20s (!) as one of the best in the business (of polling) by prominent
members of the press. He certainly won the respect of many
prominent Democrats along the way.

However, over time Caddell became increasingly alarmed and upset
with his party's unceasing march to the far reaches of the Left, and
never made any bones about it. This cost him some respect as well
as admiration and high regard from many in the party, and he had
stormed out of his own firm in 1988. His polling data made many
Democrats uneasy and even angry, but Caddell's unwavering
honesty and integrity helped him stand his ground. He also publicly
slammed environmentalism, calling it "a conspiracy ... to basically
deconstruct capitalism".

In recent years, he had been a guest and contributor on Fox News,
as well as a contributor on conservative web site Ricochet.com.
Caddell even advised Republican officials and at least one
contributor, Robert Mercer, who was a major fundraiser for the
victorious Trump presidential campaign in 2016.

Here was a man who, though he was loyal to a political party,
was even more loyal to his values, so that when faced with
choosing between the two the latter won out. For that, both
our country and our political arena have greatly benefited.
Godspeed, Mr. Caddell. You, sir, shall be greatly missed and
you are immensely respected and appreciated.

Virginia's Three-Ring Circus

After the emotion-grinding, heart-wrenching story that your
dauntless Peasant commented on here just last week, I am
pleased to share with you a story (along with my own thoughts
and observations of course!) from Virginia, coming on the
heels of the New York pro-abortion love fest story. Again,
it's a story I've never before seen the likes of, and it's a hoot
(that is, if you're not a Democrat, especially a Virginia
Democrat)!

Directly after Democrat Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam
enthused about the then-pending legislation which
would have allowed abortions up to and including the
moment of birth, as well as the option of killing the
baby if it succeeds in being born after the attempted
abortion, a photograph of Northam emerged which
all but knocked this story off of the front page of
newspapers and off the TV screens in that state and
across the country. While a student at the Eastern
Virginia Medical School, Virginia's present-day Gov
posed alongside a buddy, perhaps at a costume party,
for a photograph in rather interesting costumes to say
the least. Northam is in some clownish clothes and is
wearing blackface. The fellow standing with him is
dressed even more provocatively; he's clad in a Ku Klux
Klan outfit, pointed hood and all. Somehow, this eye-
popping picture was discovered and displayed far and
wide --- all over the country, in fact. Some Democrats in
Northam's home state are publicly calling on him to resign;
note that they are not calling for his resignation over his
support for a bill legalizing abortion up to birth and
killing a baby that manages to survive the attempt on its
young life, no, that they think is just peachy. But don
blackface for a silly occasion and pose for a picture
while one's at it? Run the rascal out of Richmond!
Ah, the Dems' notions of what is and isn't politically
acceptable.

So if Northam goes, his successor would be Virginia's
Lieutenant Governor, Justin Fairfax. A bit of poetic
justice here, as Fairfax is black. How nice and tidy,
not to mention politically correct, the way that
Virginia's line of succession has dovetailed with
something so pleasing to the Democrats' lefties.
But hold the phone, there's a fly in the ointment;
it seems that Lt. Gov. Fairfax has been accused by
a woman whom he met at the Democrat's 2004 national
convention in Boston of sexual assault. Uh-oh! This
sort of thing has become a troublesome thing for the
Party of Women's Rights and the ideology which drives
it; remember former U.S. Sen. Al Franken, ex-movie
mogul Harvey Weinstein, et al.? Now this has come
to the stage down Virginia way. As with Gov. Northam,
some Virginia Democrats are calling for Fairfax to
resign.

So, if the Lieutenant Governor calls it a day, who then
to succeed him? Virginia's Attorney General Mark Herring.
But Murphy's Law makes some more mischief: The AG
also has some blackface baggage from his younger days
as well! Oh, dear. And once again, Old Virginny's Dems
are calling for yet another resignation: Herring's.
By the by, AG Herring himself had called for Northam
to resign for the Gov's blackface caper! Robert Ripley,
call your office! Here's a "Believe It Or Not!" Story to
beat the ones which came before it!

Your falling down laughing Peasant wonders at this point
who ultimately will have these three state constitutional
offices, especially the top one? The Head Janitor?
The head of capitol security? The Executive Chef in the
Governor's mansion? The head gardener? Oh, the deliciously
humorous possibilities, what with the state's Democrat state
government officials' propensity to get into embarrassing
mischief at whatever points in their lives? A comedy writer
couldn't make this stuff up! And it couldn't be happening
to a more deserving political party! Before your amused
and bemused Peasant pops a rib from laughing long and
hard, I just want to thank these buffoonish hacks for giving
us some light-hearted diversion with loads of hilarity after
the sorrowful news coming from New York and the other
states re: widening the legalization of abortion to include
the heretofore unthinkable and formerly beyond the pale.
All this from one political party! The Democrats sure know
how to put on a show! Whoever thought that moral preening
and hypocrisy could be so much fun to watch?

And they are still deciding where to have their 2020 National
Convention. Milwaukee is one of the choices at this late stage!
Just think of your joyful Peasant's mirth if they choose my neck
of the woods to host their shindig. It may be the biggest, most
fun- and funny business-filled event since the last Schlitz Circus
Parade took place! The Dems will match the circus folks clown
for clown! Oh, I do hope that the Democrat party comes to town
to hold their presidential nomination bash just for the entertainment
value alone!

A Dark Movement is Afoot

Your politically active Peasant has been so since boyhood;
beginning with closely following the events surrounding
the wild ride that was the 1968 presidential election
(I was ten years old at the time), I have spent just over
half a century keeping up with the people, the events,
and the developments in the realm of American politics
--- local, state, and national, I took it all in. I've seen
just about everything; the good, the bad, the ugly,
and the unbelievable. I've seen things that gladdened me
and gave me hope for our country. I've seen things which
made me sorrowful and worried.  I've seen things which
perplexed me. I've run the gamut of emotions over all
what I've seen on our political scene. But what happened
in recent days simply blows away all else that I've
encountered for its breathtaking magnitude, its stunning
hubris, its shocking audacity, and its callous disregard
for the sanctity of, and cheapening of human life. And
I don't mind telling you, my grand readers, that I am
absolutely frightened to my core.

The New York Legislature, with Democrat majorities
in both of their chambers teamed up with a Democrat
governor (Andrew Cuomo), drafted a bill designed to
allow women to terminate a pregnancy through term
(that is, throughout all nine months of pregnancy
right up to and including the moment of birth), to grant the
right to allow babies born alive as a result of botched
abortions to be left to die unattended by medical staff,
to kill a baby that somehow survives the attempted
abortion, and to allow non-physicians to perform abortions.
Partial-birth abortions would also be allowed under this
soulless legislation. Gov. Cuomo couldn't get the ink out
of his pen fast enough to sign this monstrosity into law.
He then ordered the lights of the Freedom Tower lit to
commemorate and celebrate the obscene new law. By
the by, there is a plaque on the tower (which was built on
the site where the World Trade Center towers stood)
marking the deaths of the men, women, and children,
including babies still in the wombs of their mothers
who perished with them that terrible day. An unsettling
irony, to be sure, but one that escaped the notice of
a governor who never met an abortion that he didn't like.
Furthermore, this governor even stated publicly that
people who are not in favor of "choice" regarding abortion
are not welcome in the state of New York (!). What will
Cuomo do, make like an sheriff in a western movie and
give all pro-lifers in New York until sundown to get out
of the town, or in this instance, the state?

Virginia, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Illinois have had
similar bills drawn up; happily the Virginia legislation
failed to pass so it won't be signed into law by their
viciously pro-abortion governor Ralph Northam.
Vermont has a bill which does all this plus: it denies
an unborn baby any "independent rights"; in other words,
an unborn baby under this law could be aborted for
any and all reasons as it would remove any and all
rights it once had. If the mother is in a car accident and
the unborn child dies as a result, the fetus would not be
legally considered a victim and therefore would not
count as a fatality. Your appalled Peasant has not yet had
a look at the other such bills in the other aforementioned
states, but I have learned that there are other bills of this
hideous nature being debated in legislatures in several
other states as I type this post.

These ghoulish bills were written as a sort of firewall to
safeguard abortion rights in the states should Roe v. Wade
be struck down by a more conservative Supreme Court
made so with President Trump adding new conservative
justices to it --- he has already added two such justices
to the SCOTUS and has an opportunity in the offing to
add a third when liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
retires, as well she might due to her worsening health and
advanced age. Left-wing governors and lawmakers are
working to make abortion a constitutionally protected right
with some barbaric extras thrown in for bad measure.
With a conservative majority looming larger on the highest
court in the land, these abortion-happy extremists think
this ploy is a great way to tweak the noses of President
Trump and pro-lifers everywhere. And sadly, eliminating
Roe will not eliminate legalized abortion on demand,
but rather restore the pre- Roe status quo, for it was the
purview of the states to determine the legality (or not)
of abortion. Some states therefore will no doubt move to
make abortion for most purposes illegal, while other
states will codify abortion in their statutes, some even
in their constitutions a' la New York.

This means that pro-life activists will have to fight a two-
tiered battle: After getting abortion off the federal books,
they will have to fight state-by-state to get abortion laws
struck down at that level. It will be a long and exhausting
process but it has never been quick nor easy to get rid of
horrible laws which compromise, if not completely devalue
human lives --- look how long it took to abolish slavery,
racial segregation, degrading treatment of Native Americans,
and granting suffrage to women for some example. But if'
the cause be just then the battle be joined and the burdens
of the struggle be shouldered, all with singular purpose;
victory and liberation. A nation that throws away its
coming generations is throwing away its future, for if
enough of the next waves are gone then what future
has the nation? As for the moral dimension, that too is
relegated to the dustbin, making for a colder, more coarse,
more callous society, certainly not one which your admittedly
terrified Peasant desires to live in! All for a culture of death,
a byproduct of a self-serving society and nation, taking
selfishness to a frightening extent.

We must let these immoral and amoral lawmakers and these
governors (ghoulvenors?) know that we will not stand idly by
and allow them to trash the value and sanctity of human life,
for it will prove the end of us all; where will it end if we start
ridding ourselves of those among us who don't conform to a
desired type, purpose, or arbitrary value? First the unborn
humans, then ... who's next? The ill? The aged? The infirm?
Left-handed people? Green-eyed people? And for what?
Some sort of convenience? Usefulness to the state?
This is a big part of our culture war, and it's a war which we
are losing. There was a time when one who would propose
such evil legislation would have signed. sealed, and delivered
the death warrant to his political career; now such a person
is lauded in the halls of power and by the establishment media.
Where once such a sort would have been branded everything
from a crank to a evil degenerate, now he is credited with being
progressive, forward-thinking, and an intellectual of the highest
order. As New York City Cardinal Timothy Dolan said in an
op-ed piece he wrote which appeared in the New York Post,
"Those who once told us that abortion had to remain safe,
legal and rare now have made it dangerous, imposed and
frequent." Especially in a state which has long had the most
permissive abortion laws in the country.

We have ceded too much ground to our enemy over the years.
This occurred because we failed to take seriously their wild
and insane ideas and plans for our country and our society,
so we never saw the urgency to act to stop them at the start.
Now is the time to fight to regain that ground, for our
nation's morals, values, boundaries, and our very nation
are at stake; everything is on the line. All is being contested.
And we've no time to lose lest we lose everything which makes
our nation and ourselves what it and we are -- which is, in a word,
everything.
